Overview
Understanding Best Buy integration
Who this is for: Consumer electronics and accessories vendors shipping to Best Buy distribution centers and stores in the US and Canada, and the EDI and logistics teams that support them.
Best Buy publishes its vendor shipping and EDI rules on the Partner Portal, a public site organized as guides for each inbound program: regional distribution centers (RDC), DDC distribution centers and direct to store (DTS) shipments. Most of the operating detail is public, while the EDI implementation guides, standard terms and some program pages need a portal account managed by each vendor's security administrator.
The rule that shapes every Best Buy project is simple: six EDI documents must be in production before Best Buy cuts the first purchase order. They are the purchase order, purchase order change, invoice, application advice, advance ship notice and functional acknowledgment. Testing for all of them is coordinated with Best Buy's EDI team, and vendors new to EDI are asked to contact that team before they receive a Best Buy vendor number.
Ship notices carry most of the operational weight. Best Buy's distribution center guides set the 856 at X12 version 4030, require an ASN for every shipment, define how many ASNs a truckload, LTL or parcel shipment needs, and tie each one to SSCC labels. This guide records what the public pages say and when we checked, and lists what needs a portal login.
